Introduction
In order to provide
Transportation facilities to the population which are having low income. As per
given data, 37 % population of Northern Ireland lives in rural areas and are facing
energy and transportation problem due environmental and infrastructural
characteristics of rural communities, we have tried to provide some possible
ideas to make their life better.
We can use renewable
energy instead of fossil fuel which is environment friendly and cheap as well. As
per the geography of Northern Ireland which is having coastline of
approximately 7524 km in length, we can harness electricity from wind energy to
meet the need of power. Amid era of exponentially growing technology, we can
ease the mobility of people by the ideas and digital technology which is
discussed below. Also, we have discussed ideas like Public-Private Partnership
in which we have explained that government can collaborate with Private
companies or investors to decrease financial burden on itself and fulfil the
required amount to facilitate people by providing infrastructure like roads,
railway line, bridges, etc. Apart from this, infrastructural development like hospitals,
banks, supermarkets to meet the basic needs in rural areas has been discussed
to reduce the mobility of people. We have also discussed recurring revenue
model in which people can exchange service (like monthly bus or train pass) by
paying money in advance, this model provides government continuous and
predictable source of income which can be used in further advancement of
transport system. Additionally, we will use Economic of scale principle to make
our way easier to achieve our motto.
Use of renewable
energy (electric vehicles) instead of fossil fuels
Northern Ireland is one
of the best suited locations of wind resources as per DAERA (Department of Agriculture,
Environment and Rural Affairs). Since the geography of this country consist of
hills, coastal areas which is around 4675 miles, so we can harness energy to
meet the need of people and can generate revenue out of this. As per IRENA
(International Renewable energy Agency), Cost of renewable energy is falling
day by day. Cost of electricity from onshore wind is fell by 15%, offshore by
13%. We can smooth the transportation system in rural areas of Northern Ireland
by switching our dependency from fuel-based vehicles to renewable energy-based
vehicle. The transport system is
responsible for nearly a quarter of greenhouse gases in world and use of
renewable energy can helps to eliminate health issues. Nowadays many developed
and developing countries increasing their dependency to renewable sources like
biofuel, hydrogen and biomethane in transport vehicles and also by using
electronic vehicle which use electricity for its use. It is not only because it
is cheaper but also improve air quality, reduce noise pollution. Power
generation from wind and hydropower required specific location however
availability of sunlight is mostly everywhere and predictable. In 1950s, cost
of solar power was thousands of times expensive than coal. But nowadays
renewable energy is much cheaper, as per IRENA (International Renewable energy
Agency), The cost of generating solar energy decline by 13% from 2020 to 2021.
The cost of Electric vehicle is debateable but as research state that the cost
of electronic vehicle will be half of the petrol car by 2030. If we compare the
total cost on transportation in long run, hydrogen fuel cell vehicle and
electric vehicle will be cheaper. As of now initial investment on hydrogen fuel
vehicle and electric vehicle is quite high. As per article from visual
capitalist, a lot of research is going on to improve the technology of battery
and as the technology will improve, the price of electric vehicle will fall.
The price of 350-mile range electric vehicle cost was $50,000 in 2019 and further
it decreased to $39,000 in 2021 which was still greater than petrol vehicle and
it is predicted that it will reach $26,000 in 2023 which will be equal to
petrol vehicle and $18,000 by 2025 which will be less than petrol vehicle.
Ease
in mobility with the help of technology
As we can see that since past few years,
Technology has played significant role in transportation. Web mapping
application like google map and ride hailing applications like uber, ola, value
cabs made our life easier than before. In the same way, we make an application,
suppose if a person is travelling from one location to another and if there is
seat vacant in his or her vehicle then they can feed all the details like
starting location of the journey and time, destination, number of seats
available, etc. The person who needs to go the same location can coordinate
with that person to reach the destination. The charges for journey will be very
nominal or free. On the basis of ride, a score will be given to the rider and
on the basis of that several benefits will be provided from government like tax
relaxation, subsidy, relaxation in interest of loan from bank, etc.
